Snow on the Go… and Hot Food to Boot!

Who doesn’t love a snow day? Or week? Or season?! We are enchanted by everything winter… whether it’s snowball fights, sledding, snowshoeing, or snowboarding, we love making the most of cold weather! That said, whenever you’re out in the elements, it’s important to be prepared! With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of our snow time essentials, including all of the basics for you… just don’t forget your skis!

1. Snow Clothes

This one might seem like a no-brainer, but it’s important to be fully prepared when you’re in the snow.
The most important pieces we’d recommend would be: boots, snow pants, a weatherproof jacket, waterproof gloves, and a beanie… but under those essentials, it’s important to layer!
A thick sweater, an undershirt, long underwear or leggings, and thick socks (don’t be afraid to double or triple up!) will help make sure you’re well protected from the elements and stay warm.

2. Sunglasses

Have you ever stepped outside and been blinded by the reflection of the sun off the snowy ground? We have, and it’s not pretty.

Always have a pair of sturdy sunglasses with high UV protection on hand.
We love ones that wrap around our heads - they stay in place and give you that sporty look, to boot!

3. Sunscreen

This item is usually overlooked during the packing process, but it’s one of the most important things to have, since it’s easy to forget that the sun can still be harmful when it’s below freezing out!
Sun Bum is our go-to for waterproof sun protection.
They carry a variety of SPFs in multiple bottle sizes.

The product is even oil free, which means it’s great to apply on your face!

4. Water

Staying hydrated throughout the day is crucial, especially when you’re being active.

Camelbak even makes hydration packs specifically designed for use in the snow! They are waterproof, insulated, store up to 2 liters, and have an insulated drink tube and pockets to store the necessities!

5. Food

Of course, whether you’re snowboarding for the day or cross-country skiing, you’ll need to stay energized.
When you bring along OMEALS®, you don’t need equipment to prepare a full, hot meal.
Each bag comes with utensils and a heating element that is activated with half a cup of any liquid - including the snow. The included heating element will quickly convert that handful of snow into the warmth needed to generate a toasty meal,
which is incredible when you’re cold! OMEALS® has a wide variety of options to choose from and is the perfect size to fit in any pack, including your Camelbak.
There’s just nothing like being warmed from the inside when you’re out in the cold!
Now that you’re ready for your next snow trip, send us a pic! We’d love to see where you take OMEALS®.
