Tent camping is one of the most exhilarating experiences – something about setting up your shelter all on your own and cozying up for some rest after a long day of exploration makes the soul feel good. It’s no wonder that camping is still one of the most popular forms of trip in America. With so much beauty and nature to see, there isn’t a chance that our explorer friends are waiting out the winter months. In fact, the winter is such beautiful time to discover new views, animals, and more – but with one downside… the cold weather. Here at OMEALS, we are passionate about motivating you to take that trip, start that hobby, or try that new experience. Cold weather shouldn’t stop you from doing something you love, but here are a few tips to staying warm when the weather is cold.
When you know that the temperature is going to be cold, never wait until you personally feel cold to bundle up. Making sure that you are properly layered and that you have those layers on the entire time from the start of your trip can help regulate your own body temperature. If you wait until you feel too cold to add another layer, it’s already too late and you will take quite some time to warm up from there.
The next tip we have is to not go to bed cold. Just as we explained with the layers, the colder you are before you go to bed, the harder it will be for your body to warm itself overnight. It’s a great idea to get yourself a little heated, like with a hot drink or a few jumping jacks so that your body temperature rises before resting for the night.
If at all possible, insulating your tent will do wonders to keeping you warm inside. There are many products like carpet tents and rugs that help to trap heat inside rather than it just escaping. It’s also a good idea to think about what size tent you can do with and not go any bigger. The more extra space you have inside, the more cold air can just linger. Keeping your tent small and insulated will keep it much toastier in there for you.
Lastly, we definitely encourage you to have plenty of hot food on hand. How can your food be hot when it’s freezing outside? Well, with the help of our heating pad technology, OMEALS has ready to eat meals that can be heated up in just minutes with any liquid you have on hand. With a meal that easy, you don’t have to worry about fining wood for a fire, starting up your jet boil, or eating something cold and stale from your pack. Our meals are homestyle and never dehydrated – giving you the type fo food you deserve when you’ve been hiking all day.
